About UsMiss Print opened for business in October 1986.
Originally owned by Heidi Baltensberger, the printing and copy center was located at 8148 Calumet Avenue in Munster. Shortly afterwards, Miss Print purchased "Printing Pro" on 169th Street in Hammond.
"We were a growing business and were quickly running out of space," Heidi said, during a phone interview from Florida.
In the early 90's, Miss Print relocated to 173rd Street and White Oak in Hammond. In June of 1996,
8244 Calumet Avenue in Munster became the new Miss Print location.
In 2003, Heidi sold the business to her son Rick and his wife Amanda.
In all of its various store versions, customers have always gotten fast, quality service - in addition to seeing and petting dogs of all shapes and sizes.
"I grew up with dogs," Rick Baltensberger said. "I love them, and our customers seem to enjoy seeing and interacting with them, while we take care of their printing needs."
In July of '05, Miss Print took over "A-1 Printing" out of Lansing and Homewood. In February of '06, Miss Print opened up another store in Hammond, primarily the sales office and copy center.
Reflecting on why Miss Print has remained a family business, Baltensberger said, "After floating around here for twenty years, I learned a lot! I didn't have any specialties, but I've always been creative.
"Without my mom's tough love, being harder on me than the employees, I was in a unique situation. I was both willing and eager to carry on the family tradition in 2003. Ink is in the blood!"
To summarize a few things that has set Miss Print apart from other printing establishments, Rick mentioned fast quotes, fast service, and pulling off the impossible sometimes.
"We're probably one of the few print shops that has a graphic design specialist on hand daily," he said. "We can also help you with logo design. There's free coffee, and we're even open on Saturdays.
"We're your full service printing specialists, with a copy center to boot!"
